Informazioni storia

The relief represents two spouses belonging to the republican bourgeoisie. The man is dressed in a toga, the woman in a cloak covering her head. The compassionate face of the husband, furrowed by the signs of age, contrasts with the delicate portrait of the lady, framed by an artificial hairstyle with curls descending on her forehead and cheeks. The work comes from the Via Statilia and can be dated to around the middle of the first century BC.
