Informazioni storia

The head follows a widespread model replicated in the imperial age from an original of the 5th century BC made by an Attic sculptor. Although it is a copy, the sculptor has skilfully rendered the soft complexion of the deity's face, the plumpness of the lips and the hair that curls over the forehead adorned with a thin bandage in the fashion of classical Greece.
The sculpture was found near the church of Saints Peter and Marcellinus on the Via Labicana in 1886.
