Informazioni storia

This statue representing a young aristocrat of late antiquity dates from the 4th century. As in the sculpture representing an elderly magistrate, the features of the face are well characterized and we can identify the likeness of Quinto Fabio Memmo Simmaco, son of the other magistrate. If the features are those of a young man, the clothing - the tunic, the toga and the shoes - indicates that he already held a high office in the state administration. Found in 1879 during excavations in the area of the so-called Temple of Minerva Medica, it must have been inside as an ornament in one of the niches of the building and later reused as filling material for a wall.
